As a teen, Bob bought motorcycles at garage-sale prices and refurbished them to sell. His attention went toward cars as he followed in his father’s footsteps; working at the car dealership, McArdle Pontiac Cadillac, right here in town. Bob naturally became a mechanic got a job at Auto Technicians. When the owner suddenly gave up the repair shop, Bob and Brett agreed the time was right to become business owners. Bob is a Master Certified Technician who you’ll find under the hood of a car, behind the counter ordering parts or explaining repair options to a new customer.
Brett’s father, Frank, owned the Brookhaven Standard in Darien, Illinois. That was a time when your car would roll over a hose that chimed for service and a gas station attendant cleaned your windshield as gas chugged into your tank. It was also about the time Brett’s dad told the then teenager, “If it breaks down, you fix it.” So it all began with a ’73 cherry red Challenger. Brett continued to fix cars at his father’s gas station and repair shop and became a Master Certified Technician. Brett has worked alongside Bob since 2003.
